FAQs

Yes, instead of a two-in-one system you could decide to get a water softener and separate filtration system. EcoPure water softeners are designed to provide soft water throughout your entire home, and we also offer whole-home and compact filtration systems that can be installed under a kitchen or bathroom sink.

If your water treatment needs are simple or you lack the square footage necessary in your home for two systems, having a two-in-one-system may be a great way for you to save money and space.

The price for a water softener starts at about $600, plus installation. If you have plumbing experience or some free time and want to learn how to install a softener yourself, you can save on installation costs.

Under-sink filtration systems start around $120. More advanced reverse osmosis systems, which are also installed under a sink, start around $220. Whole-home system costs vary wildly, based on the specific system and your home’s plumbing and installation needs.

Many homeowners choose to have both system types, given they accomplish different things. Water softeners reduce hard water minerals, and all-in-one systems like the EPHS reduce sediment and chlorine taste and odor in addition to hard water minerals. For your specific water quality, that may be enough. If you would like more advanced water treatment, you will likely want separate systems for pure water throughout your home.

Reverse osmosis (RO) is the same filtration method many bottled water companies use. RO systems are designed to reduce a large range of contaminants, including lead, PFAS, pharmaceuticals, VOCs and other contaminants that may negatively impact your health.

While an all-in-one-system reduces some contaminants a reverse osmosis system would, such as chlorine taste and odor and sediment, you will receive the most thorough filtration possible by adding an RO system to your home. Reverse osmosis is also a popular option because they are three-stage filtration systems that can be installed under a kitchen or bathroom sink, taking up minimal space.
